Morris Township is one of Morris County's strongest visitor destinations for history, museums, gardens and outdoor recreation. A single trip can include Revolutionary War landscapes at Jockey Hollow, a working historical farm, major county parks, a Smithsonian-affiliated museum, public gardens, skating, hiking and the historic Convent Station rail corridor.
The township surrounds Morristown Borough but is a separate municipality. Many township attractions and hotels use a Morristown, NJ postal address, so NJTGO identifies destinations by municipal boundary rather than mailing city.

Revolutionary War & estate history
Morris Township's visitor story stretches from the American Revolution through the Gilded Age, railroad development and the preservation of large estates for public use.
Washington's army camped at Jockey Hollow during the famously harsh winter of 1779–1780. Today the National Park Service interprets the encampment landscape through trails, the Wick House, hut sites and visitor exhibits.
The property evolved from an 18th-century farm into a gentleman's estate and later became New Jersey's first designated living historical farm under the Morris County Park Commission.

Convent Station
Convent Station is both a historic Morris Township community and its principal rail gateway. The current station dates to 1913 and sits beside Saint Elizabeth University and The Madison Hotel.
Convent Station is served by the Morris & Essex / Morristown Line, providing connections toward Newark, New York Penn, Hoboken and points west.
Morris Township manages resident, nonresident, permit and daily parking. Rates and space rules vary by lot and can change.
The Madison Hotel is immediately adjacent to the rail corridor, making Convent Station one of the most convenient lodging locations for visitors who want train access.
Lodging in Morris Township
The township has two principal full-service hotels. Both use a Morristown postal address, but both are physically inside Morris Township.

Hyatt House Morristown is not in Morris Township.
The hotel at 194 Park Avenue uses a Morristown postal address, but Hanover Township's municipal records identify the property as being in the Cedar Knolls section of Hanover Township. NJTGO therefore treats it as nearby lodging rather than Morris Township lodging.
Additional hotels are available in Morristown Borough for visitors who prefer a walkable downtown base close to restaurants, nightlife and the Morristown Green.
More lodging is available north and east of Morris Township in Hanover Township, including the Park Avenue business corridor.
